PipGauge · check the arithmetic
Full-cost trade preflight
Trace one scenario from pip value to size, margin and net outcome. Make price basis and every entered cost visible.
Offline calculations · no financial-input uploads · no input values in URLs · no trade execution
Lot limits use exact entered decimals before rounding down. The lot amount is shown in full and can be selected and copied without rounding. Monetary displays are rounded; a budget just below a step boundary still rounds to the lower step.
Example inputs, not live quotes. Changing account currency does not convert your money inputs.
How to read this preflight
Choose the instrument, direction and a common basis for all three prices before entering account amounts. One pip is 0.0001 for EUR/USD and 0.01 for USD/JPY. Custom instruments use your stated price-unit size. A fifth or third decimal digit may be a tenth of a pip.
Midpoint mode splits one constant spread between entry and exit: a long buys half a spread above the midpoint and sells half below; a short does the reverse. These are midpoint quotes, not Bid chart prices. Executable-fill mode uses your anticipated fills without another spread deduction. Slippage is an additional adverse scenario: enter zero if it is already included.
Per-lot stop risk includes the modeled price move, spread, slippage, both commission sides and the full holding-period funding charge. Fixed trade charges reduce the budget before sizing. Volume rounds down to the lot step and is capped by maximum volume and available margin including opening commission. If the minimum cannot fit, the answer is no suitable size.
Risk capacity = (budget − fixed charges) / all-cost loss per lot
Size = floor-to-step(min(risk capacity, margin capacity, maximum lots))
When account and profit currency match, conversion is 1. For the supported FX pairs with a base-currency account, each exit scenario converts at its own effective exit price. A third currency or custom instrument uses the fixed rate you enter. Entry pip value and margin use the entry convention; they are not substitutes for calculating each exit scenario.
Gross P&L below already includes modeled spread and slippage. Their separate rows explain the effect versus your raw inputs; do not deduct those rows again. A favorable target can still produce a net loss after charges.
Scope and a useful second check
This estimates the costs you entered, not a guaranteed maximum loss. Gaps, wider spreads, conversion spreads, changing funding and other broker rules can produce a different outcome. Zero excludes a charge; it does not mean your broker charges nothing.
Custom mode needs a profit-currency value per price unit per lot and account-currency margin per lot. Inverse/nonlinear contracts, tiered or hedged margin, rebates, dynamic fee minima and portfolio-level risk are not modeled.
Initial inputs and loadable cases are mathematical examples, not market quotes, strategy recommendations or any broker-entity specification. Verify the exact legal entity, account type and symbol before relying on a trade calculation.
